Harry V. McGahey, Esq. (Partner) is a licensed attorney engaged in the practice of law in San Diego, California since 1979. He holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), and a J.D. from Western State University (1979). He is licensed before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 1994, is a Licensed California Real Estate Broker, and holds a Professional Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management from the University of California, San Diego Extension Program. He has extensive experience in all aspects of business, intellectual property and real estate law, handling both complex litigation and transactional work.
Afsaneh (Sunny) Motaghed-McGahey, Esq. (Partner) is a licensed California attorney practicing in San Diego, California since 1989. She is also an experienced mediator with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska with a double major in marketing and management. She is fluent in English, Farsi (Iranian) Afghani, and certain dialects of Pakistani.
Sunny has been practicing general civil litigation and transactional law since 1989.
She received her initial mediation training in 1998 and since then she has been mediating a wide range of disputes in a variety of legal matters including but not limited to, unfair competition, business and commercial, civil litigation, contract disputes, insurance disputes, construction law, homeowners associations and condominium disputes. She also served as a judge Pro Tem for the San Diego Housing Authority and the San Diego Housing Commission for several years.
She is trained and experienced in facilitative, evaluative and transformative forms of mediation. For the last 15 years Sunny has utilized her mediation skills and experience to successfully mediate hundreds of cases with a very high success rate.
Her mediation strategy is to listen very carefully to the party's points of view and goals, then use whatever mediation skills necessary to help the parties solve their dispute. She approaches each mediation with enthusiasm and her belief that any case can be settled once any deep, unspoken obstacles to settlement are uncovered, and then dealt with in a creative and transformative way.
